George Town Festival 2023

This was the first overseas internship that I have done. It has always been a dream since year 1 to be a part of GTF as an audience or eventually get an internship with them. It was way beyond my imagination that I got the opportunity to be a part of this internationally renowned festival in 2023. I spent three months onsite in Penang, Malaysia to learn and experience this festival as a tourist, a Singaporean, and a part of the organising team.

I assisted in stage management, volunteer coordinator, copywriting for social media and liaison with artists and creatives. I also contributed an article to The Star Newspaper, which receives a nationwide readership during my time in Penang.

Some events that I was assigned to manage are - Material Woman in the Beauty World (Theatre), Leaving Traces (Exhibition), Sounds from the East (Live Music), Macallum 360 (Multidisciplinary, Live Event) and Little Macam Macam (Multidisciplinary Live Event).

I curated the lineup for Little Macam Macam and coordinated with all partners for the event. It was a children centric event and all programmes are created for children to enjoy and learn more about the arts. I was also working with a team that is quite new to stage management, and I was glad to be able to have worked with them despite some hiccups as we all were able to learn from these moments.
