Professional Summary
Esther is an aspiring arts manager and and a writer with an interest in arts and politics. She was one of the two participants for the Arts Journalism Matters Fellowship in 2023, a virtual residency organised by Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) and ENCATC. She was also a contributing writer for The Star, an English-language newspaper in Malaysia. Esther was also part of the organising team as a Festival Programme Assistant for George Town Festival 2023 in Penang, Malaysia.
She was also the Programmes Head for Rock and Indie Festival 2023, an annual student-led music festival in Singapore at LASALLE College of the Arts. She was also the producer for the Homebody EP Launch Party held at *SCAPE in 2023 for Singaporean singer-songwriter, LAYYI's debut EP. She also participated in the 2023 Shared Campus Summer School programme, (un)learning matters: socially engaged art in Hong Kong, held onsite at Hong Kong Baptist University.

Sep - Oct 2023
As a freelance coordinator, I was in-charge of the overall programme and ticketing management, merchandise product shoot, coordination with production team, sponsors and artists and the band. I was also the volunteer manager for the operations on the actual day of the event.
May - July 2023
In my capacity as the festival coordinator for the 14th Edition of the George Town Festival in Penang Malaysia, I assisted the programming team in the planning and execution. I was in charge of artist liaison and coordination for various programmes of the festival. I also supported the programmes team in addressing stakeholders' needs, providing logistical support and project management services.
Jan 2022 - Feb 2023
RIF 2023 was the first fully physical festival with a Festival Village after the pandemic and it was the first time we had onsite auditions for the open call bands. It was an interesting experience to be working with three other diploma programmes in LASALLE to put up a good show! I was the overall programmes IC and coordinated the two teams under my care, the artist liaison team and the festival village team.

Some modules that I enjoyed the most are History and Contextual Studies (Year 1 & 2), Arts Policy (Year 3), Academic Writing (Year 1 & 2) and the Heritage Management Elective (Year 2). Some of my essays from these modules are adapted into the blog.
2023
The summer school theme is (un)learning: socially engaged art in Hong Kong, where we spent three weeks exploring the themes of decolonisation, socially engaged art and unlearning. At the end of the summer school, we had to put up an exhibition and my team's output was a participatory installation and performance that focuses on unlearning proverbs.
2016 - 2019
Singapore Polytechnic | Diploma in Events and Project Management
I was class representative in AY 2016/17 and was a part of the planning committee for the Architecture and Built Environment Faculty's Annual Dinner and Dance in 2017. I also joined a Youth Expedition Project to Tuy Hòa, Vietnam for two weeks for an overseas volunteering programme with YMCA. In my final year, I represented the school and Singapore for the MICE Destination Marketing Contest in Taipei, Taiwan in 2018 and we placed 3rd for Exhibition Marketing Award.
